The Toledo Bend Lake Association has established a memorial scholarship fund to honor Glynn Carver for his life, achievements, and unequaled impact on Toledo Bend and the surrounding communities. Glynn’s vision and leadership were instrumental in the development of Toledo Bend, benefiting the lake, its residents, businesses, and countless visitors throughout the first fifty years of the lake’s history. His contributions will continue to have a lasting impact into the future. A strong believer in education, Glynn benefited greatly from his own scholastic achievements, and the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship Fund will honor and memorialize his legacy while inspiring future students to carry forward his commitment to the Toledo Bend community and beyond.

The Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship Fund

The scholarship is administered and funded by TBLA. The Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $5,000, with two additional TBLA Scholarships also granted by the scholarship committee: the second-place applicant will receive a $3,500 TBLA Scholarship and the third-place applicant will receive a $2,000 TBLA Scholarship. In addition, each recipient will be eligible to receive $1,500 per year for each year they attend college, for up to three additional years, provided they maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and submit a renewal application each year.

The Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who resides, or has resided, in the Toledo Bend Lake area. Area, or who has spent significant time enjoying Toledo Bend Lake.

The scholarship will be awarded based on the candidate’s scholastic record, economic need, field of study, and essay submittal. While the candidate’s field of study is not limited to any specific discipline, preference will be given to those pursuing studies related to advancing wildlife or fisheries sciences that could potentially benefit Toledo Bend or other lakes in the future. The Scholarship Committee will also consider qualified candidates planning to study in general science, marketing, engineering, medical, or environmental fields of study.

Candidates must submit a one- to three-page essay on the topic “Toledo Bend: What the Lake Has Meant to Me and Why I Should Be Considered for a Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship,” along with a separate paragraph titled “What I Would Like the Scholarship Committee to Know About Me.” The essay and the attached scholarship application must be printed one-sided and submitted to:

The submission deadline is February 1, 2026, and the scholarship recipients will be announced at the Toledo Bend Lake Association’s annual “Bass Unlimited, Back a Great Fighter” Banquet on April 17, 2026.

Scholarships Totaling $19,500

The Toledo Bend Lake Association (TBLA) is investing in the future by awarding college scholarships to deserving students around the Toledo Bend Lake Area. In 2020, TBLA instituted the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship in honor of the man who devoted much of his life to improving his community. This year’s recipient is Allie LaRae Tarver of Florien High School, who impressed the scholarship committee with her leadership skills and scholastic achievement. Allie is receiving the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $5,000. She will be seeking a degree in Biomedical
Engineering from Louisiana Tech University.

In addition to the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship, TBLA approved funding to award more scholarships. Caleb Corley is receiving a TBLA scholarship for $3,500. Caleb is a graduating senior from Negreet High School, and he will be seeking a degree in Secondary Education at Northwestern State University. Emma Wilkerson is also receiving a TBLA scholarship for $2,000. Emma is a graduating senior from Negreet High School and plans to study Nursing at Harding University.
TBLA will award six $1,500 scholarships to current college students who previously won scholarships in 2024 and 2025. These recipients are Allison Bordelon, Abby Shanley, Quade Leone, Victoria Gaspard, Trenton Sepulvado and Kason Parker.
The Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior who resides, or has resided, in the Toledo Bend Lake area, or who has spent significant time enjoying
Toledo Bend Lake. TBLA is committed to improving the communities surrounding the Toledo Bend Lake Area, and one of the many ways it does so is by empowering the youth. In addition to the Glynn Carver Memorial Scholarship, TBLA supports area high school fishing teams, 4-H shooting teams, the LDWF 5 th Grade Aquatic Education Days, SWCD Kids Fish Fest, and back-to-school supplies for children in Many and Hemphill.
