Toledo Bend Lake Association Auction
2025 Bass Unlimited Painting and Poster
By Ramona Moore
Oil City artist Pennye Kingโs original artwork and poster number one were sold at the Toledo Bend Lake
Associationโs Annual Poster Unveiling and Auction held Thursday evening, April 3, at Cypress Bend Resort. This event kicked off Toledo Bend Lake Associationโs Bass Unlimited Fundraiser that will culminate with the Annual Banquet and Auction on Friday, April 25, at Cypress Bend Park Pavilion.
The crowd of supporters gathered and visited with friends in the ballroom, with Cypress Bend preparing a delicious variety of finger foods. TBLA Board member Margaret Kotar, this yearโs Poster Artist Sponsor, honored those who have given the gift of life through organ donation, as her husband Doug was a recipient and given an extra 15 years of life. Then Poster coordinator Janice Hutton, Ms. King and TBLA President Gaynell Goodeaux unveiled Ms. Kingโs original painting titled โSunset Trophyโ and the number one poster.
Many volunteers and Patrons worked to make this evening happen. Patrons include Conrad & Judy Cathey, Don & Virginia Burkett, Mike & Anna Garcie Cash, Martinโs Real Estate LLC, Chuck Mains, Edith
Palmer, Reginald Green, Town of Many, and Hall Adams- Edward Jones of Many.
The original painting was the first item to be presented for auction, and Randy Rolland of Cypress Bend Resort placed the highest bid. The signed number one poster was won by Margaret Kotar. Next, an
original painting by the 2022 Poster Artist Eddie Pastureau, titled โExcuse MeโฆI was Here First!โ was bid on and won by Anna Garcie Cash, followed by an original painting by contributing artist Beth Alexander titled โMisty Morning on Toledo Bend Lakeโ that was won by Carolyn Dove. The last item up for auction was an artistโs proof by 2020 Poster Artist Don Edwards titled โProceed with Cautionโ, and Larry Rice was the successful bidder on that piece of art.
Ms. King was present to meet guests and personalize posters. The signed and numbered posters will continue to be available for purchase while supplies last at Nichols store in Many, at the Bass Unlimited Banquet on April 25, and on the TBLA website at www.toledobendlakeassociation.com.
All of TBLAโs fundraising efforts are put to work supporting scholarships, grants, the Toledo Bend Lunker Bass Program, and other projects that benefit the Toledo Bend Lake communities in both Texas and Louisiana.
